Surgical Dermatology

Several surgical procedures conducted by professional dermatologists in Dowlati Skin Clinic includes:

  • Punch biopsy

It is an extremely simple procedure that removes sufficient tissue for histipathologic study.

  • Nevus

  • Curettage

It is a simple and useful technique for removing benign cutaneous lesions such as warts, molluscum, milia, and keratosis. Combined with electrodesiccation, it is also effective for treating basal and squamous cell carcinomas.

  • Electrosurgery

The fine electrosurgical units deliver a high-frequency alternating current, producing an electrical field about the tip of the treatment electrode. The principal uses of electrosurgery are (a) the destruction of benign superficial lesions such as warts, keratosis, and skin tags, (b) hemostasis and the ablation of vascular growth , and (c) the destruction of some malignant tumors of the skin.

  • Cryotherapy

Cryogenic agents are easy to apply, usually require no anesthesia, and cause epidermal-dermal sepration above the basement membrane, therby no scarring after reepithelialization. Cryosurgery may be used to treat a wide spectrum of skin conditions, including preneoplastic and neoplastic processes, and also benign problems such as seborrheic keratoses, viral warts, lentigines, keloids, and myxoid cysts.

  • Phototherapy

PUVA        PUVA is a combination treatment with psoralen and long-wave ultraviolet radiation that is used to treat many different skin conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, and vitiligo. Psoralen is a drug applied orally which sensitize the skin to UVA.

NBUVB         NBUVB phototherapy is a treatment for skin conditions such as psoriasis and dermatitis using artificial ulraviolet. NBUVB acts similar to sunlight and shut down overactive immune cells of the skin.

  • Reconstructive Surgery

Reconstructive surgery is performed to improve the function and appearance of abnormal structures of the body, caused by birth defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, injury, or tumors     .
